Modern Warfare 2 Holds Off Super Mario, Assassin's Creed 2

Modern Warfare 2 had a massive week following its launch, but sales in the UK have declined considerably since with a reported 86 percent decrease. It wasn't the only high-profile launch around that time though and some of the others have started to register.

While many games decided to shy away from taking on Modern Warfare 2, Assassin's Creed 2, New Super Mario Bros Wii and Left 4 Dead 2 decided to stick to their guns and release all the same.

It's unclear whether the decision has paid off though, especially in the UK, as Modern Warfare 2 retained the top spot in the sales charts. Assassin's Creed 2 arrived to take the number 2 spot, with New Super Mario Bros Wii claiming third. Left 4 Dead 2 registered in at seventh.

GamingUnion.net are currently giving away a Nintendo Wii, along with Sky Crawlers and Ghost in the Shell on Blu-Ray. Visit the competition page to find out how you can win.

They\'re all good games so where they are in the charts make\'s no difference, based on personal experience of playing MW2, I\'m sure it will sell well but soon gamers will need some other great titles to keep them happy.

Really a shame since less games releasing on the holidays means we have less options of what to play over our little winter breaks! I dont want to wait till January to get a game that isn\'t me shooting something, or stabbing something.
