Mortal Kombat Denied Classification After Appeal In Australia

The Australian Classification Board has rejected the appeal from Warner Bros. which came after Mortal Kombat was initially declined an Australian classification.

Warner Bros. had announced at the time of their appeal that Mortal Kombat's gore is on par "with numerous other titles available for sale in the Australian market". But due to Australia not having a R18+ classification at this moment in time, games are unable to receive classification over the most mature classification (MA15+) for games.

"We're obviously extremely disappointed that the Refused Classification decision has been upheld by the Classification Review Board," announced Warner Bros. after hearing about the rejection.

They went on to conclude with "We want to thank the thousands of Mortal Kombat fans in Australia and around the world who have voiced their support during the appeal process."
