New Super Mario Bros Wii Preview

Following on from the success of New Super Mario Bros on the Nintendo DS, it was obvious that Nintendo would try to capitalise on it and they're doing just that with New Super Mario Bros. Wii.
It's claimed that the game has been a vision of Miyamoto's for a while now, but considering 4-player Mario was achieved in Super Mario 64 on the DS, it's difficult to see how that's actually true. Having said that, it hasn't been done in a 2D format, and not in this way.
The game is now psuedo competitive, as players can aid or assist other people playing. It's possible to pick up other players to help them avoid obstacles, or even throw them into the obstacles; if you're that way inclined.
Players are given a score based on their performance throughout the level, with points rewarded for killing enemies, or collecting coins. Bonus points can also be awarded for things like, hitting the end flag first.
It does look fun, but there's no indication about how the single player will perform. While the multiplayer is nice, it doesn't look like it's a big sell on its own; this might change if more diversity is announced, but for now it looks like it could get very old, very quickly.
