Nintendo DS Tops 10 Million Sales In The UK

The Nintendo DS has become the best-selling console in UK history after managing to shift more than 10 million consoles in its lifetime. This means it surpasses greats such as the PlayStation and PlayStation 2, as well as older consoles such the Gameboy.

The research was published by GfK Chart-Track and it shows that nearly one in six people in the United Kingdom now own a DS - staggering figures. With the Nintendo Wii also being the fastest-selling console in UK history, things are still extremely positive for Nintendo as they head into the Christmas season.

Nintendo are hoping the Wii's most recent price cut, which sees it retailing for less than £150 at most retailers, will stem the tide, as sales have begun to flag in recent months.

GamingUnion.net are currently giving away a Nintendo Wii, along with Sky Crawlers and Ghost in the Shell on Blu-Ray. Visit the competition page to find out how you can win.

Wow, that\'s pretty awesome. For a game console to outsell the Playstation is amazing, and I think that the reason it was so popular was that we\'ve never really had an actual console that uses a touch screen. Also, the fact that there is a microphone is not common either. For this reason, I don\'t think that the DSi will sell as well because anyone who liked the idea of the DS has probably gotten it, and won\'t plan to buy it again just for the extras in the DSi (though they are pretty amazing.
