February NPDs: 360 And PS3 Strong, Wii Down

The NPD Group has released the February 2010 sales numbers for the United States. The Xbox 360 has come out on top in hardware sales with 422K sold, while Bioshock 2 took the software crown with 563K. Below are the hardware and software numbers.

DSi XL Comes to North America Next Month

At the Nintendo Media Summit held in San Francisco today, the company announced the official release date for the Nintendo DSi XL, as well as the price for the system. The Nintendo DSi XL is a larger version of the Nintendo DSi, which was released last year in North America and Europe. It removed the Game Boy Advance functionality but added new features like a Wii-stylized home menu and a camera which can take pictures. More »

Mario & Sonic Winter Olympic Games Tops 6 Million Shipped

Nintendo have announced that Mario & Sonic At The Winter Olympic Games has managed to ship more than six million copies worldwide since it was released in October of last year on the Wii and DS.

It has, naturally, seen a significant boost since the start of the Winter Olympic Games which are being held in Canada. It'll certainly be interesting to see how its sales compare to the more serious game which launched on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 last month. More »

According To Level-5 Producer, Akiro Hino, at a Talk with college graduates in Japan, the company is planning to open a new studio in North America. This new studio is set to be a publishing based studio to release titles under the Level-5 name as opposed to previous titles that were published under different companies. More »

Iron Man 2 Release Date Confirmed By Sega

Sega announced today that Iron Man 2: The Video Game, will arrive at almost exactly the same time as its Hollywood big brother. It's scheduled to be released on the 4th of May in North America, with the film coming out on the 7th.

The previous game was met with a less than positive reception, but apparently Sega San Francisco (formerly Secret Level) have taken the criticism on board, and will look to rectify things for the sequel. Hopefully that's actually the case. More »

During EA's fiscal third-quarter announcement, an outline of release dates was unveiled including a plethora of major games from the publisher. These titles include Crysis 2, Dead Space 2, Dragon Age 2, as well as a console port of the massively popular PC title, The Sims 3.

The ports if The Sims and Crysis 2 will see a release sometime in the fourth quarter of 2010. Although it is unclear exactly which systems The Sims 3 will be ported to, Crysis 2 will see a launch on PC as well as the Xbox 360 and PS3 consoles. More »

Study: 80% of US Teens Own a Game Console

The Pew Research Center has just released a study which found 80% of Americans, age 12 to 17, own a game console. The center's Internet & American Life Project reported the findings. Teenage console ownership was also broken up by gender; boys were more liked to have a console, but girls were not far behind, coming in at 89% and 70% respectively. More »
