Nintendo Profits Decline: First Time In Six Years

Nintendo have announced that sales and income for the six months prior to September 2009 were down 34.5 percent compared to the same period last year. Net income was also down 53.4 percent and it's the first time that Nintendo has seen a decline for six years.
Speaking about the news, Nintendo explained why they had seen a sharp decrease in income,
[Income was] adversely affected by the appreciation of the yen and the price cut on 'Wii' hardware. Software titles [for the Wii] which briskly drive hardware sales were not consistently launch in the first half of the year.
Nintendo were quick to point out that they have a strong line-up between now and the end of the year, which should seem them do well throughout the holiday season.
