No Plans For A Final Fantasy VII Remake

This week's issue of Famitsu magazine has an entire page dedicated to Square-Enix's most popular character, Cloud Strife of Final Fantasy VII. The feature talks about when he was born among other things and showcases the many appearances Cloud has made in other titles like Dissidia.

An interview with Tetsuya Nomura himself, the character designer of Final Fantasy VII and creator of the Kingdom Hearts franchise, was also featured in the magazine and revealed a slightly disappointing development,

There are many rumours of a Final Fantasy VII remake, although there are no plans yet, I still hope that Cloud will feature in other titles like he did recently in Dissidia: Final Fantasy.

However, as disappointing as this is, it shouldn't come as a surprise since Kitase has already mentioned before that if they were to do a remake, he would like the entirety of the original staff to be a part of it. Although Kitase has completed Final Fantasy XIII, Nomura and his team are still hard at work on its sister title, Final Fantasy Versus XIII. More information on the game will most likely be revealed at this year's E3 event.
