Playstation 3 Bucks The Trend In Japan

Enterbrain, a Japanese publication, have reported that Playstation 3 sales bucked the trend in Japan over the last month.
According to Media Create figures, the Playstation 3 managed to sell 109,000 units between March 30th - April 26th, a figure which was 288% larger than the same period in the previous year. This goes completely against the rest of the Japanese video games industry, which saw an overall sales decrease of 65.5%.
The surge in Playstation 3 hardware being bought was largely sparked by the release of Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children Complete on Blu-ray, which had an edition that came with a demo of Final Fantasy XIII. A special edition Advent Children Playstation 3 was also available for consumers and it was consistently at the top of Amazon.co.jp's pre-order charts prior to its release.
Releases such as BioHazard 5 and Street Fighter IV, alongside the extremely popular Yazuka 3, also helped to maintain a consistent growth for the Playstation 3.
