PlayStation 3 Sales Soar Following Arrival Of PS3 Slim
Following the launch of the PS3 Slim, sales have gone through the roof, with the United Kingdom showing a particularly large rise. According to ChartTrack figures, sales have actually increased by 999%, which points to the PS3 Slim being a huge hit.
The increase means that the PS3 Slim outsold the Xbox 360 (which has also seen a recent price cut), the Nintendo Wii and Nintendo DS all by a margin of over 3-to-1. However, analyists aren't sure it if will be able to maintain its momentum until Christmas.
ChartTrack stated that,
The longevity of this uplift very much depends on the time of year. The PS2 Slim was released in November, much closer to Christmas. We’ll have to wait and see how things work out for Sony this time.
It seems as though if Sony's console maintains its momentum, the other companies should start looking over their shoulders.
