Sony recently announced that they managed to sell 6.5 million PlayStation 3 consoles during Q3 of the 2009 Fiscal year, which when placed upon previous sales figures, means that the PS3 has managed to now sell over 30 million units - 33.71 million to be precise.
It means that the gap between the PS3 and the Xbox 360 is shrinking little by little, with Microsoft recently announcing that there were now 39 million Xbox 360s in the world.
Both of them are still miles behind the Wii, but the PS3 certainly has momentum at the moment. Their year-on-year sales keep on increasing and analysts believe this trend will continue throughout 2010.
