PSN Pass 'not timed particularly well,' Says Michael Pachter

Sony recently confirmed PSN Pass may have been introduced at the wrong time, reckons Wedbush Securities analyst Michael Pachter, who notes that it's doubtful if the initiative will make Sony any money.

"PSN Pass is not timed particularly well. Curious if they make any money off this, I expect not," tweeted Pachter.

Much like EA and THQ's Online Pass, PSN Pass is a one-time registration code that will give gamers full access to a game's online features. In the case of PSN Pass, the first game announced to support it is Resistance 3. Pre-owned customers will likely have to cough up some lunch money in order to play online.

"We are always evaluating new programs for our online offering, and starting with Resistance 3 this September, we will be instituting a network pass program for PS3 games with online capabilities," said SCEE in a statement.
