Quantum For PS3
Posted on 2009/06/10 by Darryl
Ever since Tecmo's PlayStation 3 exclusive, Quantum, was announced last year, many people have compared it to Microsoft's behemoth franchise, Gears of War.
It's easy to see why. They both have a bulky male leading character who wields big guns, and there is also the obvious cover system that made Gears of War so successful. However, while Tecmo are aware of the comparisons, they don't necessarily agree with their sentiment.
When quizzed about the similarities to Gears of War, Peter Garza, who is the localisation producer on the project, tried to distance Quantum from Gears of War:
Yeah, everybody compares it to Gears of War (laughs). Obviously it's a sci-fi third-person shooter and we have a big guy for a main character. What we're trying to do is make a third-person shooter that only Tecmo can make. We know action games. We have Ninja Gaiden, so we're trying to incorporate some of that action game feel into third-person shooters.
Quantum, previously called Quantum Theory, is set to be released at some point during 2010. Check back shortly for our full preview on the game.
