Rumour: Fumito Ueda Leaves Team Ico

It's rumoured that the creator of The Last Guardian, Fumito Ueda, has left Team Ico, but will continue to work on the project until it's completed.

The news comes from Eurogamer, whose sources say Ueda will embark on personal projects once The Last Guardian has been completed. They also stated that Ueda's departure is one of the reasons the game has taken longer than expected to complete.

The game was planned to release this year, but was pushed back to an unspecified date in 2012 and SCE Studios' president Shuhei Yoshida last month delayed it's been a "very difficult" project.

Ueda was also the director and lead designer of PlayStation 2 classics Ico and Shadow of the Colossus, both of which were recently released as an HD collection on the PlayStation 3.
