Scribblenauts Exceeds Sales Expectations

The NPD Group has released the extended sales figures for September 2009, which reveals that Scribblenauts, one of the most highly-rated games of E3 2009, garnered stronger-than-expected sales.

The game centres around Maxwell and his quest to obtain Starities. However, to claim them he needs to overcome certain puzzles and these can be solved by summoning items. For example, if a Staritie is out of reach, the player can give Maxwell a ladder, so he can climb it. This is only a very simple example though, as there could be many other ways to obtain the same Staritie.

According to the NPD Group, the title sold 194,000 copies, only a few thousand short of 200,000. Considering the game is a new title from a relatively unknown developer, that's quite an accomplishment.
