Sega Studios San Francisco Closing Soon, Possibly Today

According to an anonymous news source at 1UP, Sega Studios San Francisco will be closing down, even as soon as today. The studio is (in)famous for a few flops including Golden Axe, Altered Beast, which didn't see a North American release, and the first Iron Man game. Their last project was the Iron Man 2 game, which has been completed, and will see launch despite the studio closure.

It shouldn't come as a surprise to many, considering the quality of games they have put out recently seem a little rusty, although it did look like they were going to polish up the second Iron Man title to more of a gold standard. Either way, we hope at least some of the developers have been transferred to separate studios.

Iron Man 2 releases this month for the Wii, DS, PS3, PSP and Xbox 360 and you can check out our preview here.
