SOE: Star Wars: The Old Republic To Be Last Subscription-Based MMO
Sony Online Entertainment's president John Smedley has stated in a recent interview that he believes Star Wars: The Old Public will be the last subscription-based MMO we see.
Smedley also hinted that Planetside 2, the next big title from Sony Online Entertainment, will try to take on a free-to-play model, while harnessing some more unique revenue generating techniques.
Star Wars: The Old Republic is due for release later this year, with BioWare getting lots of crucial data from ongoing beta testing. Planetside 2 is also due to start wider testing this year in North America.
