Sony Renew Their Champions League Sponsorship

Sony have been a long-time sponsor of the UEFA Champions League in Europe, with there being numerous adverts being shown just before shows begin, during breaks and of course, advertising banners throughout the games. One of the more memorable adverts included two average guys and a vulture.
While the Champions League is a European tournament, it's one of the most prominent sporting competitions in the world, with over 100 countries watching just the group stages. Recently though, they haven't necessarily been using the space to advertise the PlayStation 3, which is a rather strange move. Instead, they've chosen to promote the PlayStation brand, as a preference.
Darren Carter, the Vice President of Consumer Marketing at Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) said that:
Football has been in our blood for a very long time and is something that along with unique and entertaining games excites PlayStation fans. The UEFA Champions League offers us an opportunity to talk to football fans around the world, especially throughout Europe and by combining the incredible content of the UEFA Champions League with the diverse features of PlayStation products, we feel that we can bring football to our community in ways no one else can.
With over 40 million people watching the Champions League final only on TV, and only in England, Spain, Italy and Germany, it really highlights how much exposure this can give to Sony.
