Square Enix Countdown Hinting at New SaGa Game

Square Enix has launched yet another mysterious countdown website on their Japanese website, leaving fans puzzled as to what the game might be. Unlike the Front Mission teaser website, this countdown only shows a painting in the background, the number 4, and a countdown that will end on July 6th (according to the URL).

The painting will be adding more detail over the days leading to the reveal. Thanks to GameFront.de, it seems this countdown might be related to a new SaGa game. Designer Tomomi Kobayashi announced on his blog that he is working with Square Enix on a new game. It has been over ten years since he worked with the company, and his previous work involves all of the series.

After SaGa 3 (known as Final Fantasy Legend III outside Japan), all of the other games in the series were given spin-off titles. With the release of the SaGa 2 (Final Fantasy Legend II) remake on the Nintendo DS later this year for the 20th anniversary of the game in Japan, it would make sense for the company to announce a new numbered game in the series.
