Square Enix Post Profits Thanks To Deus Ex: Human Revolution
Square Enix has posted a vastly improved net income this year, which works out at a 175.2 percent improvement over last year's diabolical performance.
Last year was the worst in Square Enix's history, as the company lost vast amounts of revenue due to the failed release of Final Fantasy XIV. However, this year the company saw strong returns thanks to bumper sales of Deus Ex: Human Revolution and mediocre sales of Final Fantasy XIII-2 and Final Fantasy Type-0 in Japan.
This saw their net income for the year reach £41.4 million despite their total revenue from sales declining year-on-year.
During the nine-month period ended December 31st 2011, the Group's results included increased sales of console games boosted by our major titles, Deus Ex: Human Revolution (Europe, North America and Japan) and Final Fantasy XIII-2 (Japan), as well as continued expansion in fee-based service revenues from growth areas including content for the web, smartphones and social networking services,” president Yoichi Wada stated.
This year Square Enix are also expected to post strong figures, as Final Fantasy XIII-2 releases in the West, alongside the likes of Tomb Raider and Hitman: Absolution.
