Super Mario 3D Land Sales Exceed 5 Million Units
Nintendo has revealed that Super Mario 3D Land, the most recent Mario title to be released, has managed to sell more than 5 million units worldwide.
This means that Super Mario 3D Land outperformed Nintendo's other big first-party offerings on the Nintendo 3DS, with Mario Kart 7 selling 4.54 million untis and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D selling 2.49 million units.
Nintendo also revealed that between April the 1st, 2011 and December the 31st, 2011, five first-party DS titles managed to sell more than one million units. These were Pokemon Black/White, New Super Mario Bros., Mario Kart DS, Professor Layton and the Last Specter and Kirby Mass Attack.
