Super Meat Boy Sells 1 Million Copies

Team Meat revealed that its 2D platformer Super Meat Boy has sold over 1 million copies across several platforms since releasing for Xbox Live Arcade in October 2010.

Developed by a two-man team, the game also released to Windows shortly after its XBLA debut, and received a Mac port in November 2011. Though its WiiWare edition is cancelled, a Super Meat Boy port for Linux is also in the works.

The indie game, which was nominated for the Independent Games Festival's Grand Prize and Audio categories in 2011, initially released as a download-only game, but its success prompted retail editions in Russia and North America.

Super Meat Boy for PC has benefited from its inclusion in various high-profile sales, including promotions on Valve's Steam platform and pay-what-you-want indie/charity gaming campaign Humble Indie Bundle -- the latter selling over 435,000 bundles.
