White Knight Chronicles Online Explained: Subquests

Over the past two days, we've looked at the social aspects of White Knight Chronicles. Firstly there was an introduction to GeoNet, White Knight Chronicles' integrated social network, then GeoRama, where players can make their own towns. However, neither of these modes mention anything about the actual gameplay.
For the final part of our mini White Knight Chronicles feature, we're going to take a look at the Subquests, where the real action takes place.

In subquests, players can use their own character that they've created for the online mode, although if they choose, they can actually play subquests locally by themselves. The majority of the time however, players will want to team up in a party to try and defeat quests.
There are said to be around 50 quests available when the game launches, and others will be added after its release. They can all be tackled by up to 4 different people, but to unlock quests, players must progress further through the offline story. This might be a bit frustrating for those who want to purely focus on the online play, and it would have perhaps been better to keep them separate.
Upon completing quests, Guild Points are awarded, and these help players to increase their Guild Rank. This unlocks access to higher level quests (after they've been unlocked via offline play), as well as better weapons and armour.
To make progression easier, there is also an auto-matching system, so quests don't have to just be played with friends. It's possible to play with both friends and random players in the same game, so finding people to help should never really be a problem.
After taking a look at White Knight Chronicles' entire online offering, it seems extremely detailed. It's essentially an entirely different game, and it's definitely something that will eat away time. Be sure to check it out when the game is released next Spring exclusively on the PlayStation 3.
