| 7 | To say Ubisoft’s mysterious survival title, I Am Alive, has been a long time coming, would be a bit of an understatement. Originally rumored to be a full retail offering under the guidance of Assassin’s Creed producer Jade Raymond, I Am Alive spent a few years in the incubator over at French studio Darkworks before eventually settling at Ubisoft Shanghai for its final stretch. The end result of this roughly four-year process is a downloadable title which seeks to immerse players in the harsh realities of survival in a post-apocalyptic setting. With that goal in mind, I Am Alive certainly succeeds in creating an oppressive, bleak backdrop for exploration, using a handful of clever mechanics to make your actions have added weight and consequence.
