August 2013 JRPG Gamers' Guide

September is right around the corner, and with it comes another slew of role-playing games from our friends in Japan.

So, you know what that means, right? It's time for Gaming Union's monthly edition of the JRPG Gamer's Guide: your source of all things JRPG to sate your appetite.

Let's get this show on the road and see what the world of JRPGs has in store for us.

Atelier Meruru Plus

Originally released on the Playstation 3 console, Atelier Meruru Plus is an enhanced port to the Playstation Vita console featuring new scenes, new bosses, and new costumes to outfit your characters.

After meeting the Alchemist Totori, Princess Meruru of Arls insists on becoming the apprentice to Totori. At first her father, the King, refused, but after some council he allows her to become an alchemist, but only if she agrees to aid the kingdom through accomplishing quests. Being as she wishes to help her people, she agrees and sets out on her adventure.

Synthesize away on the Playstation Vita on September 3rd in North America. No information on a European release has been announced at this time.

Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX

Sora is back, and looking better than ever. Square-Enix has remastered the series in new HD resolution and updated many features to make reliving this classic better than ever. Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX features the full package of Kingdom Hearts Final Mix and Kingdom Hearts Re:Chain Of Memories. Also included are fully HD remastered cutscenes telling the story of Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days.

Be sure to pre-order your copy to get your hands on a limited edition art book while supplies last. Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX will be available in North America September 10th and Europe September 13th.

Ys: Memories of Celceta

Nihon Falcom, maker of the original Ys series is back to give its rendition of the ever popular Ys IV franchise. Following the story of Adol Christin, a man who is struck with amnesia, you seek to unlock your past and your future. Along your journey, Adol is joined by a host of companions, each with their own fighting styles and abilities.

Engage in fast paced hack and slash battles as you explore vast zones and dungeons. Take on powerful and brutal boss fights that where quick thinking is imperative to survive. With specials, dodges, and blocks, you'll be tested on your reflexes and bravery in every encounter.

While no definite release date has been given, most sources list it as a September 24th release in North America while other sources list it as a November 5th release. No news on a European release at this time.

Valhalla Knights 3

Take on your friends and enemies in this newest installment of the Valhalla Knights series. Build and mold your perfect team of seven by selecting from an assortment of classes: Fighter, Thief, Archer, Mage, Prisoner, Priest, and Akatoki. Then customize your newly built team by assigning skills and passive abilities to fit their role. Once you're satisfied, you can pin your team against your friends to see who is the better tactician.

Similar to Ys: Memories of Celceta, Valhalla Knights 3 has no definite release date, but has been speculated for a September release in North America. There has been no news of a European localization at this time.

There you have it! While not a huge list of titles, there are definitely some upcoming heavy hitters in the mix.
