After several years absent from E3, Square Enix finally came back this year with its own press conference. With lots of promising titles like Kingdom Hearts III, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, and several others, Square Enix had everything to make its press conference one of the best at this year's E3.
Square Enix started its conference by showing new gameplay footage and the opening of Shadow of the Tomb Raider.
Following Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Square Enix announced a Final Fantasy XIV x Monster Hunter: World collaboration, which will see Rathalos and Felynes from the Monster Hunter series appear in the world of Final Fantasy XIV. This collaboration will release this Summer.
The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit also made an appearance at this conference with a brand new trailer that also features commentary from the developers at Dontnod Entertainment.
This was followed by a new trailer for the upcoming Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age. Square Enix later announced the game's “Edition of Light”Day One Esition and the “Edition of Lost Time” Special edition. The Day One edition comes with a copy of the game, a reversible cover featuring artwork from Akira Toriyama, and a PS4 theme for the PS4 version and a Wallpaper for the PC version. The "Edition of Light" comes with a copy of the game, a 128-page hardback art book featuring concept art and famed artist Akira Toriyama’s early designs, a 2-disc set featuring orchestrated versions of in-game music, a 20”x15” cloth map of Erdrea, a Collectible Steelbook Case, and several in-game items. Square Enix also took this opportunity to announce a 2nd Final Fantasy Brave Exvius x Dragon Quest collaboration.
Moving on to new games, Square Enix announced a brand new game titled Babylon’s Fall. Other than the fact it's being developed by PlatinumGames, no other details on the game were provided. Babylon's Fall releases in 2019 on PS4 and PC.
Next up, Square Enix showcased the Xbox One trailer for NieR: Automata, and new trailers Octopath Traveler, and Just Cause 4.
After these trailers, Square Enix announced another new title, The Quiet Man. Releasing on PS4 and PC, The Quiet Man takes players beyond sound and words to deliver an immersive story-driven cinematic action experience, which players can complete in one sitting, seamlessly blending high-production live action, realistic CG and pulse-pounding action gameplay. More details will be revealed in the coming months.
Square Enix brought its conference to a close with a new trailer for Kingdom Heartts III. The company also revealed two special editions for Kingdom Hearts III. The Deluxe Edition includes a copy of the game, an exclusive steelbook packaging, an art book with concept artwork by Tetsuya Nomura, and a Kingdom Hearts III pin. There's also a Deluxe Edition + Bring Arts Figures, which includes Bring Arts action figures for Sora, Donald, and Goofy. This edition will be available in limited quantities.
