According to Sony, the PlayStation 3 is now "breathing down their necks", the necks of Microsoft and the Xbox 360. In an interview with IGN, Sony Computer Entertainment SVP of Marketing and PSN Peter Dille, proclaimed that in terms of number of consoles sold worldwide between the Xbox 360 and PS3, the PS3 will eventually sell more units.
"I mean, we've got 31 million [units sold] worldwide right now -- they've got 39 million [units sold]. I don't even need to go out 10 years. I'm not going to make any predictions for your interview today other than we'll pass them," Dille told IGN.
Whether it actually happens or not in the next 10 years, Dille tried to make it sound a lot quicker, saying, "they can see us in the rearview mirror and it's not going to take too long to pass them." For the gamers that do actually care, it's doubtful they'll care past the start of the next console generation, which will likely be in the next few years. As always, time will tell best.
