Not long off the announcement of Call of Duty creators Jason West and Frank Zampella being dropped from Infinity Ward by Activision, the two have now announced the opening of a brand new studio called Respawn Entertainment. Both West and Zampella were former creators of the now massive Call of Duty Fanchise. The duo will also be heading their new studio

Interestingly enough, Respawn Entertainment will be working on a new IP under exclusivity with their former rival publisher, Electronic Arts. EA has also been given exlusive worldwide publishing and distribution rights to their future titles.

Zampella commented on his excitement for the new studio by stating, "For the past decade we led a great development team and poured our hearts into creating an epic game franchise. We're very proud of what we built "“ and proud that so many millions of fans enjoyed those games. Today we hope to do it all over again "” open a new studio, hire a great team, and create brand new games with a new partner, EA."

It does seem that they are hinting at a little bitterness with Activision and with good reason, but it is good to see these massive hit makers go right back to work on a new title. Maybe their new tile will be one to compete with Call of Duty directly.
