With Cliff Bleszinski's appearance on Jimmy Fallon postponed until Monday, many of us are left wondering what exactly the "big reveal" was supposed to be. Luckily, Edge seems to have gotten a large part of what this reveal was from a "trusted US publishing source". Just what, exactly, is this big reveal going to be?
Reportedly, each side will have their own methods of circumventing their opponent's cover, with the COGs being equipped with explosives that travel underground to neutralize enemy cover, while the Locust have tentacle-like extensions which can stretch out to attack COGs. They are also looking to replace the moving cover system with a beefy mech that can be used offensively or defensively. Both of these new features will be present in the single- and multiplayer modes.
Gears 3 will also be set in the summertime, along with some new locales, including an underwater level. During the GDC in March, Epic showed off an Unreal Engine 3 demo showing off a jungle area, since Gears 3 is slated to occur during the summertime, this may also make an appearance.
While Gears Of War 3 has not been announced yet, it was strongly suggested Cliff Bleszinski's announcement for Jimmy Fallon would be Gears Of War 3, this, along with his mention that they, "wanted to take a couple more days to polish what we're showing" points to a Gears 3 announcement.
