The official announcement has come down the pipe from Microsoft today, announcing a release time frame for the Xbox 360 and PC versions of Fable III, along with a special edition box set available exclusively to the 360 version of the game.
Both versions are set to release sometime around "this Christmas", which probably means late November to early December. The PC version will be released for $49.99 USD exclusively as a "Games On Demand" title, which is most likely Microsoft's way of combating piracy of disc based versions of the game. The 360 version will get a standard edition for $59.99, with a special edition box set that will run $69.99.
According to Microsoft, the limited edition of Fable III will include: a quest specific to the LE that will award the player with a new sword, a new region to uncover treasure, playing cards featuring characters from the game, a coin that will help players make decisions in the game, an in-game boxer breed of dog, as well as a new outfit from the land of Aurora.
The extra ten dollars really doesn't seem like too much of a deal, considering half of the things included seem as if they could have been included in the standard edition anyway, but were removed to seem more valuable as a limited edition perk. Either way, expect Fable III this Christmas, with a more concrete date hopefully coming soon.
