The European PlayStation Blog has officially announced that the MUBI video service will become available on the PlayStation 3 this Fall in most of Europe. The MUBI service will combine both free as well as pay-to-watch movies on the service ranging from independent film to Hollywood award winners.
The service will offer only about 300 movies to start, but all of the films are among the top of the film industry, ranging from cinema of the 1930's to the modern day auteur such as the Coen brothers or Quentin Tarantino. There is also a full community that fans of films can meet up to socialize with one another or comment on their favourite films.
Sounds like one appealing system for watching some of the best films ever made. Hopefully the MUBI service will see a more open release in the near future, especially since Canadians are stuck without any video services yet. This would be a great start for a worldwide video service.
