XSEED Games has just announced that they have secured the North American publishing rights for Yuji Naka's upcoming game, Ivy the Kiwi? for Nintendo DS and Wii. The game is a brand-new IP from PROPE, which is most known for it's lead, Yuji Naka, who is known for his ties with the development of the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise before he left the company.
Ivy the Kiwi uses a unique storybook-like art style and has the player control a bird named Kiwi who sets off to find her mother. Similar to the control scheme found in Nintendo's Kirby: Canvas Curse, Ivy the Kiwi can be moved by vines drawn by either the Nintendo DS's stylus or the Wii's remote. This leads to some unique physics-based action as skilled players can whip from room to room in mere seconds.
The game features over 100 stages in both versions, along with up to four-player multiplayer via single-card local wireless on the Nintendo DS and split-screen on the Wii. XSEED Games is set to release the game sometime this summer, although no exact release date was given.
