Sony has announced that their Networked Product and Services Division - of which the PlayStation brand is a major factor - has achieved a profit of approximately $86 million for the quarter which ended on the 30th of September, 2010.

In the same period last year, the division recorded a loss of around $700 million, so the turnaround has been quite significant.

PlayStation Move and the PlayStation 3 were highlighted as significant reasons for the success, with the PS3 shifting 300,000 more units compared to this time last year.

However, the PSP is in serious decline and its sales fell to match that of the PlayStation 2.
