Sales of Sony's PlayStation 3 have doubled in Japan in the last week thanks to the release of Gran Turismo 5, which topped the Japanese software chart at 430,707 units sold.

The PlayStation 3 sits in second place on the hardware chart with 68,840 units sold while the PSP remains at the top even though sales dropped significantly to 75,689 units from last week's 96,601 units.

However, this is highly unlike to remain the case as Monster Hunter Portable 3rd just came out in Japan. PSP sales are bound enjoy a significant boost and MonHun will likely take top spot in the software charts.
