Bethesda are hoping that their improvements to Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim make the combat much more involving and even more brutal.
The core mechanics will be the same, but they're going to be removing a lot of the cheap tricks that could be employed throughout Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.
"We've really slowed down how fast you move backwards. So a guy who is charging you, you can't just back up from him. In Oblivion, you ran backwards at the same speed you fan forwards. The biggest reason we changed that was a visual one; in third-person, it just looked ridiculous," said Todd Howard, executive producer on Skyrim.
It should be good, although it was fun to run around like a crazy person.
