PS3 Firmware v3.56 Is Now Live

Sony has sneakily released a new firmware update for the PlayStation 3, but it's apparently no more than a security patch intended to thwart the recent spate of hacking.

Firmware update 3.56 is quite a hefty one, and it's been reported that it wipes off Homebrew software by installing over the top of it.

However, hackers are already claiming that they've managed to get the new root keys for the PlayStation 3 and are working on ways to create a new custom firmware to get around Sony's latest update.
