Sony has stated that they claim to fight this recent wave of PlayStation 3 hacking, which was undertaken by a hacking group known as fail0verflow.

In a statement to Edge, Sony said "We are aware of this [the hacking], and are currently looking into it. We will fix the issues through network updates, but because this is a security issue, we are not able to provide you with any more details."

The hacking group claim that the only way for Sony to fix the problem is to produce new hardware.
