Sony's just announced the PSP2, currently codenamed NGP. Alongside it, they've also announced their line-up of titles, including PlayStation hits like Killzone, Resistance and Uncharted - the latter of which Kaz Hirai decided to demo live on stage at the PlayStation Meeting 2011.
While not entirely up to par with Uncharted 2: Among Thieves on the PS3, from what we can see the demo looked real impressive. That aside, the various forms of gameplay on the NGP were detailed, including the dual-analog sticks, motion and touch control.
The dual-analog sticks are described as a "micro analog stick" design, delivering the exact same experience that the Dualshock controllers provide. Continuing on with the demo, Hirai showed that you can jump using the touchscreen or the X button. In addition, as Drake swings from vine to vine, you can rock the NGP back and forth to create momentum.
The touchscreen, motion sensors and rear touchpad appear to offer plenty of new opportunities for gameplay mechanics! The rear touchpad is even a one-to-one ratio with the front, mapping the positions of your fingers exactly where they should be on screen.
This year's holiday season can't come soon enough. NGP is currently slated for release then.
