Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has broken the news that the Australian Classification Board has decided to ban the Mortal Kombat reboot from releasing in Australia.

In a statement, the publisher said: "We are extremely disappointed that Mortal Kombat, one of the world's oldest and most successful video games franchises, will not be available to mature Australian gamers."

It's believed that the game's fatalaties are what the Australian Classification Board has particular problem with, and Warner Bros. said they were reviewing all options available to them in order for the game to release.

In the UK, the game is due for release on the 21st of April on PS3 and Xbox 360. North Americans will receive the game a few days earlier.
