Sony has announced that the PlayStation 2, which originally launched in 2000, has now managed to ship over 150 million units worldwide in its lifetime.

Sony also revealed that those 150 million consoles have had 1.52 billion games bought for them, as of the end of last year. This means that the average PS2 gamer has over 10 titles for their device - impressive figures.

It was claimed by Sony that the console had a 10 year plan, but it surely has to have exceeded even their expectations, especially as the PS3 has now been out for quite a few years.
