It has been revealed that Crysis 2 won't feature EA's Online Pass, which has been appearing in quite a few games over the past few months. The reason? Crytek didn't want it as part of the game.
Online Pass is a system which EA implemented to try and take the upper hand in the battle against used game sales. However, since Crytek aren't a first-party studio, they had the choice to opt out of its inclusion.
They said that the feature was too young and untested, and that they wanted as many people to play the online mode as possible - whether they were used gamers or not. Crytek wanted it to be as big as possible, and the Online Pass could hinder growth for the franchise.
