The battle between Sony and George "GeoHot" Hotz continues as Sony was just authorized by a federal magistrate to subpoena Hotz' PayPal records in order to determine the source of his funds and donations.

According to Sony allegations, Hotz has received donations from California for his PS3 Jailbreak hack. This ruling is just the latest in the case to determine if Sony can get the go-ahead to follow through with the lawsuit in California, instead of New Jersey, Hotz's hometown.

Judge Joseph Spero said that the information from PayPal can be used as "documents sufficient to identify the source of funds in California that went into any PayPal account associated with geohot@gmail.com for the period of January 1, 2009, to February 1, 2011."

In addition, Sony was also granted access to Hotz's tweets between now and January 1, 2009. Hotz will be required to appear in California for a deposition regarding the jurisdiction issue with Sony covering his expenses.
