Nintendo has declared that they currently have no plans for a sequel to Donkey Kong Country Returns, despite it making a successful return to the video games industry at the end of last year.
Speaking to Game Informer, one of Nintendo's producers, Kensuke Tanabe said " I wouldn't say we won't do a sequel [for Donkey Kong Country Returns], but we don't have anything planned at this time."
He also revealed that Retro actually approached Nintendo about doing a Donkey Kong title, but they were initially declined. However, when Nintendo felt the time was right, they went back to Retro and outlined their plans.
