THQ have confirmed that they've layed off just over 30 employees from both Homefront and Red Faction devs, Kaos and Volition, this week.
"We have had to let go of 16 employees at Volition, our studio in Champaign, Illinois," said THQ. "We must adjust our workforce to fit the studio's current needs, which is a relatively common occurrence in the game development industry."
"Steps are being taken to ensure team members affected by the transition are treated with appropriate concern," THQ added. "The changes are not expected to affect any current or future titles in development with Volition."
Kaos' Homefront was released earlier this month to some mixed reception while Red Faction devs Volition are currently working on a number of titles, including the new Red Faction and Saints Row games. They are also collaborating on a project with film director Guillermo Del Toro.
A THQ rep confirmed that 220 employees remain at Volition while about 70 remain at Kaos, where 17 employees were let go.
"Kaos has a dedicated team in place that will continue to support Homefront with an ongoing, robust DLC and content plan, as well as working on pre-production for future games," THQ noted. "We have made changes to ensure that the team size aligns to the current stages of internal product development."
