Sony stated today that they're currently "investigating" possible cyber attacks on their online services that include the PlayStation Network, PlayStation.com and Sony.com. The statement suggests that Sony may have been the target of attacks from an "outside party."
This comes just after Sony websites and PSN went down for unknown reasons after hacker group Anonymous threatened the company for its "wholly unforgivable" legal battle with hacker George "GeoHot" Hotz.
"We are currently investigating, including the possibility of targeted behavior of an outside party. If this is indeed caused by such an act, we want to once again thank our customers who have borne the brunt of the attack through interrupted service. Our engineers are working to restore and maintain the services, and we appreciate our customers' continued support," reads the statement.
Anonymous had previously threatened Sony, saying that they would specifically attack their web domains. Sony then issued a statement saying that PSN would be "undergoing sporadic maintenance"
