Call Of Duty Elite Announced, To Have Monthly Fees

Activision have announced a new online service called Call of Duty Elite and is looking to charge a monthly subscription for it. Now before you go jumping to conclusions, Call of Duty Elite itself is not an online multiplayer pay-to-play experience, but rather an extension of sorts.

The online multiplayer in the upcoming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will remain free as well; however, players will have the choice to opt for the paid service which will give them access to extra content, including map packs and whatnot that won't be available through other means. The service also includes stat-tracking tools and other Facebook inspired features.

Call of Duty Elite will not be exclusive to just Modern Warfare 3, but to future Call of Duty releases as well. Activision have yet to decide on the costs for the service, but are expecting to charge less than other online services like Netflix, which only costs $8 a month.
