Peter Molyneux has been voted as the video game industry's top developer "hero", based on a poll conducted by US publication, USA Today.

To make it more impressive, the poll was only voted on by his peers, with 9,000 developers giving their opinion on the matter. Molyneux, who made classics such as Populous, Dungeon Keeper and Fable, beat out Shigeru Miyamoto, the creator of Mario and Zelda.

Third was Jonathan Blow, the creator of indie game Braid, with Will Wright, the creator of the Sim phenomenon just behind alongside John Carmack, who created Doom and Quake.

Also in the Top 10 were Mike Morhaime (World of Warcraft, Starcraft), David Braben (Elite), Sid Meier (Sid Meier's Civilization), Masaya Matsuura (PaRappa the Rapper) and Dave Jones (Lemmings, GTA).
