Crytek has proudly announced that after they sent out a request to universities about a CryEngine 3 educational program, over 250 establishments responded.

"We are absolutely delighted by the huge interest that academics from all around the globe have shown in CryEngine 3," says Crytek's Carl Jones. "Thousands of students now have access to the same cutting-edge technology that the world's best developers are using for their ongoing projects. With our CryEngine 3 educational SDK we want to enable them to achieve their vision and create their very own innovation to become the next generation of developers."

When Crysis 2 launched in February, many believed that it raised the bar for graphical performance, just as Crysis did when it originally launched.
