Audio buffs might want to keep an eye and both ears out for this, Sony's unveiled the official wireless stereo headset for the PS3 "” and much like the home console system, it looks like quite the sexy behemoth. But, more importantly, how well does it hold up when it comes to beating those eardrums?
Sony hardware product marking manager Anand Agarwal says that the headset is designed for some good old surround, featuring 7.1 virtual surround sound. It comes with a USB wireless adapter for easy connection and also sports precise controls for volume and muting.
In addition, there'll also be on-screen status updates to keep users informed of the little things like battery status and sound controls. It has a retractable mic that supposedly offers "the highest quality voice chat for crystal clear online conversation." Great, I can hear the whiny pre-pubescent tools from virtually a mile away now! I kid, of course.
More importantly, this sexy beast will retail for $99.99 at retailers come September, a rather reasonable price considering Turtle Beach and Sennheiser easily cost upwards of $200 or more.
