Sony has officially announced that the PlayStation Vita (formerly known as the Sony NGP) will sell for $249 in North America and 249 euros in Europe.
This will include the Wi-Fi only model whereas for the model with AT&T 3G access will sell for $299, nearly $50 more. For those concerned about the expense, the handheld's price with just Wi-Fi is identical to the price of Nintendo's 3DS at launch although it seems the excitement for the system's launch titles might be enough to sell.
Expect the PlayStation Vita some time this holiday season. Great news as there were fears it could be delayed due to the tsunami in Japan.
