EA has put out a list detailing the online retailers that'll offer Battlefield 3. Interestingly enough, while other online retailers like GamersGate and Direct2Drive, as well as EA's on Origin have been listed, Steam is not.
EA has said before that Origin is not made to compete with Steam or other online digital distributors and that they will continue to support on all available outlets. However, citing one such service, EA Support described a rather complicated relationship.
"When a download service forbids publishers from contacting players with patches, new levels, items and other services - it disrupts our ability to provide the ongoing support players expect from us," said EA.
"At present, this is the case with only one download service. While EA offers its entire portfolio to this site, they have elected to not post many of our games. We hope to find a mutually agreeable solution to this issue soon."
EA's list has since been removed. Battlefield 3 is out October 25 on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.
